Brain Potpourri

1. I bought Milano cookies the other day, completely excited to tear into the bag. I haven't had Milanos in FOREVER. I poured a glass of milk, dove into the bag, took that first bite.....and.....meh. So I had one more just to make sure.
Still meh.
Did you change the recipe on me, Pepperidge Farms? Because I think you did. Those cookies used to be mouth-watering-cannot stop-must eat the whole bag-type of cookies. What a disappointment.

2. I don't want you all to hate me but my christmas cards are FINISHED.
Like finished finished.
Like I have them in my hand and can't stop staring at them finished.
And ohhhhhhhhhhhh.....they are AWESOME!!!
You know I will share it with you eventually. I can't keep this type of fabulosity to myself.
{what? Is that bragging? Sorry. But I'm in love with my card this year. Amy from Doodlebug Dezigns once again made my vision a reality!! This year's card is the most original card I have ever done.}

3. Paprika's hideous collar is gone. I have no clue who removed it. But Rika is SO much happier without it. It was like she practically skipped to my back door to show me her newfound freedom from the fashion crime that was that dumb bandanna/collar.

4. Can someone please tell me why my skin has been breaking out like a teenager lately? Is this what my 30s is bringing me?!

5. I forgot how wonderful baking pumpkin bread makes the house smell. Now if only we could get weather below 80 degrees and then it would really start to feel like fall.

6. You know the famous quote about the two things in life you can be certain of? {Death and taxes} Well, whoever said that forgot the third thing in life that you can always be certain of:

Because it is without a doubt, GUARANTEED, that when you go to run just one quick errand....dressed in terrible, mismatched clothes and without a stitch of makeup on....and you say to yourself "I'll be quick. I doubt I'll run into anyone.".......YOU WILL.

And it will be someone you haven't seen in a LONG time.
And there is nowhere to hide.
She will run smack into you, in all your mismatched, makeup-less, 30s zit-fest glory.

Damnit. I hate it when that happens.

I just ordered my Christmas cards, they will be here soon. I have all the labels done already though, I was on top this year.

I always run into someone when I look my worst, just wrong and unfair!

Oh, and Milano's do taste goofy now. Don't like it and they need to fix it.

McMama, you are welcome to get a move on my Christmas cards now. and, by the way, you can slide a baby announcement in the envelope too. She should be born in a couple of weeks, but you can work on the Christmas cards 'till then, mmkay? I'm sure you'll do a fabulous job.

Yes, I do try to always look my best when I go out because I do not feel like running into anyone....soooo, that will guarantee it for me.

As usual, you are right in all of your sharing. Interesting about the cookies. I think I will have to check that out.

I'm with you on the Milano's! What's up with that? All of a sudden they suck. I think they're getting chintzy with the chocolate centers :P

I seriously need to start on my fall baking, you know, it puts me in the mood.....to eat.
And ha! You have you Christmas cards finished! I had mine finished Last Month. To bad I had missed the USPS deadline for having them arrive before Christmas 2008.

I totally agree with you on the Milanos. Same with Girl Scout cookies--- why did I used to think they were so amazing??

My cards are done too and I am in love with them. Totally. :)

All of you that think the Milanos taste different now need to email Peperidge Farm (?) and tell them! My favorite brand of Caesar Salad mix (Et tu Caesar) changed their "recipe" a while back and it wasn't for the better. I wrote them and guess what? Evidently so did a TON of other people and in less than 3 months they CHANGED BACK to their original formula due to so much customer feedback! All the while they kept in touch with me with email updates thanking me for my feedback, letting me know how they were addressing the issue, etc. Most amazing customer service I've ever experienced. Also, they sent me a ton of coupons as a little "thank you". Power to the people!

I once realized that the Milanos were actually "regular" Milanos and the really addictive ones are the mine ones.

In my opinion, anyways.

As I approached the end of my 30's, I was greeted with zits AND wrinkles. And it appears the trend is continuing now that I just started my 40s.

Perhaps I will be finished with zits when I start menopause. At least there will be hope in the hot flashes!

Yes, you definitely will run into someone when you go out like that. It's one of the life rules!! Good job on those Christmas cards!

So true on the Pepperidge Farms Milano's - I thought the same thing! I'm thinking about the Christmas cards..does that count? Yep, I ALWAYS, w.o. fail run into someone when I'm looking like a schlep & w.o fail, run into NOBODY when I actually look sorta nice...go figure!

I am working on getting my Christmas cards ready and this will be the earliest I have ever had them done! I am feeling MAJORLY on the ball! :)

And you are SO right about running into people when you look like crap. It does happen EVERY time.

I get a zit on my chin in the EXACT same spot every. single. month.

Are you going to do the Christmas card carnival again this year? That was SO fun!

Of course I many not participate b/c I haven't even thought about that yet...

I just ran into a long lost friend the other day and I'm pretty sure I haven't looked that bad in a LONG time. I mean I was at Babies R Us... what are the odds? Ok, so pretty high I guess considering just about everyone I know is currently with child... but COME ON UNIVERSE!!!! Give me a break for once...

LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!!!

I hate it when companies change their formulas. Like Blue Bell changed the flavor of their green popsicles...made me sad.

I need to work on my Christmas cards, too...including getting a good picture.

You are definitely on a roll with the xmas cards, I haven't even gotten there yet. I am sure yours are awesome!
I think they are putting less chocolate in the Milanos now, what a bummer they are...

I find it hard to belive you ever look less than presentable- but I can't count how many times I've run into someone on a "quick errand" sans bra- and I pull that cross over arm thing where I'm acting like I'm cold, but it doesn't look at all natural and I just look uncomfortable and braless!

Erin @ Closing Time said...

I suspect that the issue with the Milanos is that Pepperidge Farm has removed the trans fats from their products. Much healthier, but probably not the same as they used to be. I haven't tried them lately, but this is my guess.

I always run into people while I'm looking less than stellar.

And it must be a 30's thing - because my face is breaking out like crazy and I'm not sure where it came from!

Loukia said...

Love the random post! And hello, you are not alone - I've been totally breaking out lately, too! I mean, it is horrible! WT heck is going on?!?!

My cards are done, too! Hoorah! I love this time of year...

Last year I had my cards (pictures and all!) done by this time. I am behind this year, ha.

And yes, 30s is when I acne started! First time every in my life I got pimples. Hate it! Tried Murad kit!
