How to be a Professional and Famous Blogger.

Let's review my week, shall we?

Monday: I can't remember

Tuesday: I can't remember

Wednesday: I can't remember

Thursday: Went out to dinner with a fellow blogger, Leslie from Got Kids, Need Valium! Sure, I've been to Chile to visit her. But now it was my turn to show her a good time!

In the car on the way to pick her up, I snapped a pic of myself on my cell phone at a red light. Because that's what bloggers do, I've been told. And I really wanted Leslie to think I was a professional blogger.

And not only did I want Leslie to think I'm a professional blogger, I also wanted her to fool her into thinking I was a super famous blogger.

So I took her to my favorite restaurant, where I know all the waiters. I could float around the room, shake a few hands, kiss a few babies and then request my favorite table. I believed my plan to be perfect.

How wrong I was.

Because apparently, no one at my favorite restaurant even knows I blog.

No one was all "McMommy, I read your latest post! It was fab!" or "McMommy, can you autograph this for me?".
No one even asked me to take any pics with them.
It was completely depressing and ruining my grand plan of wooing Leslie into thinking I was a skilled and acclaimed blogger.

And? The icing on the cake? All the waiters proceeded to fall in love with Leslie!!! She started speaking French and Spanish to them and they couldn't run over fast enough to give her glasses of wine on the house.

So of course, I was all "Hola!"...which apparently didn't impress anyone.
In fact, they just brought over my glass of wine and gave it to Leslie.

However, I'm not a quitter. I refused to let my plan go down the toilet.

We sat there, talking and laughing and telling stories....and occasionally, I'd throw in a "Oh, I'm going to have to blog about that!"

You know, just to make it seem like I was formulating future posts in my head at all times.

Sometimes in mid-conversation, I'd whip out my phone and twitter. Or send out a twit-pic. Like all pro bloggers do.

Here's my girl!! @LesNeedsValium on Twitpic

And Leslie would too.

Hmmm. She was good. I was going to have to move quickly to my next trick.

I pulled my camera out of my purse and asked Leslie's boyfriend the waiter to take a pic of us. I could tell Leslie was extremely impressed by my Boy Scout inspired "always be prepared for a blog-worthy moment so carry your camera at all times" motto.

In fact, I was just going to mention to her that she could nickname me Scout when she pulled the ultimate one-up on me: Leslie takes out her video camera and starts vlogging right there at the dinner table.

It was all over. I was a fraud.

I waved the white flag and bowed down to the famous, professional blogger that sat before me.

She gave me her autograph and sent me home.

p.s. You probably want to know where the vlog is, right? How the heck should I know?! I'm just a lowly, common blogger. If Leslie ever posts it, I'll let you know so you can all make fun of me.

It's alright baby, you're still my favorite blogger! Oops, just forgot that I blog too. Guess you're still second place. Nice try though.

Haha.... I love your memory lapse of your week! If I saw you at a restaurant I am sure I would at least think "Hey, that girl looks familiar....". ;-)

Sounds like you had a fabulous time! Yay! :) So when we come to your neck of the woods next time, maybe you can take me to that restaurant? It sounds better then the 'factory'! :)

Two of my favorite bloggers out on the town! I'd have loved to be there! And McDaddy- hilarious!

Well, McMommy, you can rest assured that you are more famous blogger than me! And that's something, right? Well, I guess since only like 3 people read mine, that's not a huge accomplishment, but still...it's something!

At you had fun and no one had to go to the ER while you were having blog-friend fun!!!

Hilarious retelling!

The cool thing is that you went to dinner with someone that understood that you had to tweet a photo and wouldn't even question that you carry your camera everywhere. Bloggy dinners are the best!!

McMommy, I tried to comment earlier. But alas, I've been traveling with screaming children. I am now in Tucson. I promise I will get the video up very soon. Will let you know when, I promise.

As for the dinner. Everyone was giving us excellent service because of YOU!!! You were so right about it there. It was fabulous. And I'm secretly praying that my husband gets stationed back in FL.

I haven't had that much fun in a long time. Thanks for the date sans kids. It was a blast. I will be working on my rebuttal soon. :)

I could go on... but I will save that for my blog post.

Well, I am not sure if I would know a famous blogger if I saw one (ok, yes I totally would) but I'd say you definitely have the teeth and hair of a famous blogger. Very shiny and lovely.

I secretly stalk your blog and read all your tweets. I love the humor you put into all your posts. Keep it uo, I look forward to it.. :-)

Oh McMommy, in my eyes you are a super star blogger. In fact I even define bloggers in comparison to you... as in "so and so is a big blogger, not like mcmommy big, but bigger than me big"

If I ever met you I would be totally star struck! :-)

Seriously! How long does it take to be a famous blogger!?! Fun blog...I like it! I would take your autograph, any day.

Well I try so hard not to get caught up in this whole "more popular then me" blogging deal, but I guess I can't not give in to it...you win. As if anyone needed to say that. So this is the best I can do.."Wow, that's awesome. And I wish I could meet both of you at Blogher!"
But I can't. So I will sit here on the sidelines.
"Put me in coach, I'm ready to play...."

LOL - Thanks to your helpful tips, I will never take another fellow blogger out to dinner!

Sarah said...

You're way more famous than I am. So you can feel good about that.

You totally had me fooled! If I was looking for advice on how to be a famous and professional blogger I would definitely ask you! I guess I'll just direct my questions to Leslie now!
