The McNecklace (and a giveaway!)

***Updated with Winner!!***

Congrats JSUE! Please email me to claim your prize!

*******************************************************

I'm probably going to get banned from the Woman Club for saying this but...

I'm not a huge fan of jewelry.

((gasp!!))

I know.

If you were to run into me on any given day, you would find me wearing only my "essentials": the diamond studs McDaddy gave me the night before our wedding, my wedding band (sometimes my engagement ring too but not necessarily), and my Tiffany ring on my right hand.

That's it. Just my earrings and my wedding band.
Oh, and my watch....but I'm not sure if that counts as jewelry.

What I love about my everyday jewelry is that each piece has sentimental meaning to me.

I thought I was good with my jewelry essentials.....until I got my best friend a stamped necklace for her 30th birthday. When it arrived, suddenly I was all Ohhh! It's beautiful and I want one too!!!

But it was expensive and I thought....I better hold off.

And I did. But good things really do come to those who wait.
Because my friend Paula happened to forward me an Etsy site of a friend of hers.....

BejeweledByJules was perfection!
Her necklaces were so beautiful and she had lots of different types of charms to choose from.
And her prices?? SO AFFORDABLE!! $21.00 for a custom stamped necklace?? YAY!!! Just what this mom was looking for!!

And here it is...just arrived the other day! Truly a "McNecklace", wouldn't you say?

If you run into me, you will see that it is officially my latest addition to my "jewelry essentials". I love it more than words can say.

And here's the best part....

You can have the chance to win a Bejewelled By Jules custom stamped necklace simply by answering this question....

If you won, what would you have stamped on your necklace?

(And please don't think that these necklaces are just for moms! You can put anything on it! A wedding date, a favorite verse, a nickname, initials. And to my male readers... don't you be shy about entering the giveaway!! This can be a great gift...Valentine's Day isn't far off! hint hint!)

Leave a comment with your answer to the above question by Tuesday the 13th at 7pm and random.org will pick a lucky McCommenter!

Ranger 10.29.08

He was our third son who passed away at the end of October at 24 weeks (in utero). I've been looking for a way to keep a reminder with me/on me.

Now that I write that, it sounds a bit morbid, but I don't mean it that way. If that makes sense?

BMB-The Mom said...

I love those type of things! I'd put my boy's names on it! Too cute!

♥spoiled mommy♥ said...

how adorable!
id def. put 3 hearts and the kids name on mine-if there was enough room.

oh and i checked out your ring link...gorgeous!! which lead me to your engagement pictures...mcmommy you are just simply gorgeous! i LOVE the pictures!

Vic said...

I'd be tempted to put the boy's name, but then if we had another one afterwards that'd be a bit unfair. Maybe a star...

CathyE said...

I'd just put mom on it. We have 1 son and want another, so I don't want to put just his name on it. Also, even though my boy is 13 months, I don't have anything that says "mom"

What a fabulous necklace. I would totally have my kids names stamped on there. Or the word 'uber' just because it's a great word!

Weaselmomma said...

Okay, here's mine. Centered with WeaselMomma, circling with World of Weasels - Breeding like rodents since 1993.

Lisa said...

so cute -- I'd have my kids names put on it - Katie & Kyle. Not very original, but oh so very important to me!

because I said so said...

Mine would say Carson.Reese

I LURVE your ring so much. It's so perfect. A perfect everyday McRing!

Sarah G :) said...

My favorite word in the whole wide world is my son's name... Elijah Daniel. That's what I would stamp on it.

bessie.viola said...

I think I would stick with tradition and have it stamped Madeline Grace 2.12.08

I've been wanting one of these since I gave birth... thanks for pointing out this awesome store!!

Amy said...

That is so cute!! I would have my kids names put on it. I used to have a bracelet with their names on it but it broke. I'm the same way with jewelry just the basics. I love this!!!

Ms. Attitude said...

Wow! That necklace is great! I would love to have one that says: "Dream Big" or maybe "Ms. Attitude" Who knows, only time will tell. :)

Becky said...

I would have Bethany&Gary Lee stamped on it for my two not so much babies anymore (12 and 14) babies!!

JuneBug said...

jklm

me, hubby, daughter, and m... is still to come, but we're pretty sure on the initial!

Aprille - The Muddled said...

natellalex (Nate Ella & Alex) all of my babies names interlocked. I love that their names do that. Its my crew. My Hollywood name smooshing crew.

Traci @TotalMomsense said...

I'd put the date of my wedding anniversary! I'm right there with you on the jewelry. I used to have a pretty nice collection until I had a daughter... She has worn/lost almost all of my moderately priced jewelry.

Carrie said...

I would put something for my hubby (since we are planning on having more kids than just the two). Probably our wedding date and the word forever (or simply the infinity symbol). It's a nice way to remember him while he's gone without having to wear some "Army Wife" t-shirt.
p.s. I also only wear my essential pieces. My wedding band (engagement ring when it fits) and a turtle necklace my hubby bought in Iraq on his last deployment.

Liz said...

Perty!!! I love it!
I would stamp my husband's name on it & our wedding date.

Sarah Furlough said...

My childrens names....Logan, Cooper and Libbie. We only have 2 in our arms, but all three are in our hearts. If I win this, they'll always be right next to my heart.

Mandi said...

Hey, your "essentials" are more than mine! I've got my wedding/engagement (they're soldered together) ring and a necklace I got the night before my hubs and I were married (from him). That's pretty much it. Ever.

If I were to get this necklace? I would probably stamp "Forever Began 12-21-03" but that might be too long. So I'd settle for our boys' names. ;-)

Mandi said...

Oooh, but I just read through the comments and I want to change my answer to "Dreamer" ;-)

SarahHub said...

I love it! Sentimental but not sappy at all. I'd put my daughter's name on it!

Marinka said...

I would put my kids' names. or http://nycmoman- oh, what? Like we're not all thinking the same thing.

Threeboys1mommy said...

Could I fit 3 names on one?
Should I get 3 necklaces, one for each son?
Do I want to look like Mr. T?
I pity the fool!

If I won I would give it to Mandy, commenter #2.

Katie said...

So pretty! I'd put my children's names on it. I love this necklace!

michelle and jason said...

I thought I was the only person in the world who bought jewelry for myself (and if it's around Christmas, I'll wrap it up and stick it under the tree - from myself).

I'd most definitely have my children's names stamped on mine!

Jennifer said...

How lovely! Simple yet gorgeous! I would have my husband's name and mine stamped on it and hopefully there would be room above our names to stamp the date of our anniversary.

Janah @ So Not Mom-a-licious said...

Mine would say Nico, for my son.
And I am so sad because I had already written a comment but Blogger is really out for revenge!

M&M&M said...

I would do 3 dates. Our anniversary, Mia's b-day and Michael's b-day. I love these pieces. I just got a similar necklace for Mia's Godmother for her birthday. She loves it and wears it all of the time.m I stamped "My Godmother", on one piece, and Mia Bella with the date of her baptism on another disc. It came out beautiful!

Nancy K. said...

I'd put my grandson's name on it, Connor. He's the joy of my life.

The Roaming Southerner said...

I would get MINE 01.10.04

see here: http://roamingsoutherner.blogspot.com/2006/10/story-of-our-past-rings.html

Elaine A. said...

I already have a similar necklace so if I won I'd probably put "Best Mom Ever" on it and give it to my Mother. : )

Shannon said...

Gorgeous!! It's beautiful McMommy. I would probably have "My 3 Things" stamped on it - their names might not all fit :-)

Kim said...

Oh, it would be my kids names, no question. But if I had two, the second would be a favorite scripture.

Mrs. S said...

Can I do both sides? If I can one side will say S. & S. (but with our names) and the other said would say para sempre 3.8.08

*sigh* I may just have to go and order my own anyway!!

I love yours! So cute!

Hazel said...

since i'm not a mommy yet and won't be for a while, i'd put live.laugh.love. on mine!

Pam said...

Hehe- I would put on it "If I am wearing this I am a glutton for punishment" Though that might be too long so I would make it "I'M A GFP" and when people ask I will explain how I am allergic to metal and wearing this ensures me a mean rash. OR I would give it as a gift to someone special read: Mom) With the words "Virginia and Joe" with an Eternity symbol if they do that...

ElleBee said...

Ooh, that's so cool! I'd probably give it as a gift and put my nephew's names on it!

mom2natnkatncj said...

Oh that's cute. At first I thought I'd put my three kids names on it, but then I thought I want a necklace to memorialize my angel Celeste who I lost just a month ago. So after looking at her site I think that would be the perfect thing. So I'd want it to say Angel Celeste Alia 12/6/2008.

Dandelion Momma said...

Mine would say "Just Keep Swimming". I have problem with my sympathetic nervous system and I am hypersensitive to pain and stimulation. The only thing that feels good is being in the water, so I would love a necklace that said that. Love it!

Jody said...

I would put all three of my kids names on it. I have a charm necklace with my two oldest, but the store went out of business and I can't find an initial for my youngest to match. This would be a great way to have something with all three.

Lizze said...

You know the mom in me wants my boys names (Gavin, Elliott & Emmett). The artist in me wants either "create". And the "me" in me wants "esoteric". So yeah, how's that for a convoluted answer? ;) lol

Mo Fabulous said...

Um, I dont have kids so mine would just say:

Need. Wine.

Or Rum. Diet.

Sorry - not too sentimental, but means a lot anyways!

Jen @ Mommay's Mayhem said...

If I won, I'd have a necklace that said "follow your dreams" and give it to my daughter. =)

Sara in Seattle said...

Love this necklace! And so affordable--definitely going to order one for my best friend once her baby arrives.

For mine, I'd just put Blessed.John1:16

Melissa said...

I get to Marry the man of my dreams May 23, 2009. A mere 4 months and 10 days away. I would want MJJM (our initials) and May 23, 2009 on there!

Pocklock said...

I would definitely put my daughter's name on it, but not just for her, but because she's named after my Grandma too and to have both of their names hanging by my heart every day would mean so much!

Madeline and Max's MOM said...

so cute! i would put my true treasure M&M on it for madeline and max! Then I'd always have my candy on it!

The Mom said...

It's cliche, I know, but my kiddos' names for sure. And if I could, their bdates too?

Keeling said...

I would love to have my kids and my hubby's names put on it. It's such a great idea!

Danielle said...

I would put JEMS on it. This is the first initial of my three children and the first initial of our last name.

Lisa@verybusymomwith4 said...

I LOVE jewelry and that necklace is adorable!
Not sure I could put all my kids' names on it but I could do their first initials--GCFJ

Jenny said...

I love this! So adorable! I would put my deceased dauhters name Annelise, then Bella Grace, and last our son due June 2 Pierce.

OK Fab Five said...

I would have to decide between my wedding date which is 1-8-2000 or my three daughters names

JSue said...

I'm not big on wearing jewelry either. In fact, my ears aren't even pierced (anymore) Two rings and a watch is my everyday wear.

If I won, I'd put either my children's names or my wedding date or a Bible verse...I'm decisive like that!! LOL!

Hailey said...

The necklace is oh so beautiful.

I would have it stamped with my girls names.

duchess said...

That's easy - "I Heart McMommy" of course. Only kidding!
It would have to be Brayden & Gracie (for obvious reasons).

Rachael said...

I think on mine I'd put 7.12.03 and 5.02.06 - my wedding date and the date my son was born. So cute! I just love the idea.

Also, I clicked over and I LOVE your Tiffany ring. My one regular ring aside from the wedding band and sometimes the engagement ring, I have a ring with birthstones of me, my hubby & my son.

Carla said...

I'd have HOPE in big captial letters in between my name and my daughters name.

The word hope has 3 distinct reasons for me. Hope for my self, for my daughter and for things to come.

Humn . . . I could get used to wearing this on a daily basis.

Texan Mama @ Who Put Me In Charge said...

Hmmm I think I'd get a bible verse stamped on it. Either that, or "Made in China" to match the rest of my jewelry.

Leslie said...

I would put the names of my 4 children and wear it proudly and sentimentally! It is adorable.

Vikki said...

I have been looking at the expensive ones like these-I love this necklace. I would put my two babies names on it-Cash and Cillian!
Love it!!

I'd want Hope stamped on mine... for all the little things I am hoping will soon come true.

I think if I won, I would want one stamped with "Live and Love".

Fingers crossed!! :)

nonna said...

since i'm a total loser and/or an idiot who LOST her wedding ring & engagement ring i would have our me & hubby's names and our anniversary (halloween!) on it.

lori said...

i would want 'no whining' on it, but that might be tacky...
and noone likes tacky...
so, maybe something like...

mom

CaraDee said...

I owe my girlfriend a bday present this year and I would have her kids' names put on it like you did. Cause I only can care so much...ha

Aunt LoLo said...

I would probably put my anniversary on it...'

Thanks for supporting etsy!!

Kristy said...

I would get my word of the year MOMENTS to help me remember my plan to celebrate the everyday moments and the special moments instead of always rushing through life like a chicken with my head cut off!! :) Love the necklace!

redknowshow said...

This is a very easy choice for me. Mine would say "As you wish 9.5.04"

That's it. And it would make complete sense to me and my husband and would be extremely special because my wedding band broke last year. We can't afford to fix it yet (since it's an antique) so to have something to symbolize the marriage would be fantastic.

Sarah said...

I would put Brandon and Anna on mine. I love it and I hope I win!!

Thanks!

missallizoom said...

Not Original at all, but I would have Noah * 2008 put on it. A lot of life changing things happened in 2008 and I would love something to remind me, as well as my son's name, plus I ADORE stars. Oh pick me! Pick me! Pick me!

Kristy said...

I, too, have been eyeing these super cute necklaces! I would put my children's names on them. Olivia, Reese, and Will!

Mama said...

I was thinking about putting my kid's name on it - that was my first thought. But then I got to thinking, my father recently passed away and I would probably put the words 'Sto Pro Veritate' and maybe his initials. Sto Pro Veritate translates to, I stand for the truth and it is the motto on our Scottish family coat of arms. It would be nice to have something to remember him by. Awesome contest! Thanks!

Gas Girl said...

I have been looking at these lately and love them!

I would probably go with the others and have my 2 kids names on it.

Very cute!!!

Kim H. said...

I'm sort of torn between putting my husband's name and our wedding date... and putting my weight loss surgery date and a big 92 for the pounds I've lost so far!

Stephanie said...

I'd have mine and my husband's initials and our wedding date
(05/10/08) stamped on it.

MommyTime said...

I LOVE these. I especially like the "Om" style pendant. I think I would put "Laugh. Love." on it, as a reminder to myself to live in the moment every day.

Erin said...

too cute! i think i'd put my wedding date on it (4.21.07), possibly with our initials (E&J) as well.

Stephanie said...

I love it...so cute!!
I would put Landon or Landon Blake on it for my son!!

andreawilliams said...

I would totally put my boys names on it. Or maybe my secret boyfriend, if I had one. Wouldn't that be great? I could put Brad Pitt on a necklace!

Erica said...

I bought a necklace like this (off of Etsy...love it!) for a friend and gave it to her the night before her wedding. It had their initials and their wedding date. She loved it! I want one for myself with my 2 kids names...but don't yet know the name of baby girl coming in May. Thanks!

Jess said...

I would put my husbands name and the date that we met. That day changed my life forever!

Amy said...

I am not a big jewelry fan either, earrings, wedding ring and my watch I got for Christmas and the watch and ring come off when I get home and start my routines. I would definitely stamp my kiddos names.

Morgan M. said...

ohh! I've totally been wanting a necklace like this for years! I'd have "232" stamped on it b/c it's me and D's "number".

Way back in high school he asked me to be his girlfriend and he noticed the time- 2:32- and remembered it. A month later when we were celebrating "1 month," he mentioned the number of hours and minutes left (aww!). Well ever since, we see that number pop up in our lives all the time and go "oh look! 232!" So this would be perfect!

Lori said...

I think I would put either Travis& Lori or Duke & Boss (our "trucker names" from when we were over-the-road truck drivers)

Would love one for the kids names too but need to decide on baby #3 name who is due in a month!

I'm crossing my fingers!

I would put HOPE on it and give it to my sister. This is her new mantra and she is always searching for things that say HOPE. She was especially looking for a necklace around Christmas time.

3boys247 said...

Oh, pick me!

I would have our motto stamped on it. "Brothers stick together"

Katrine said...

Her jewelry is beautiful! If I were to choose a word for the necklace it would be my word for the year, "Change."

The Keddies said...

How lovely! If I don't win this, I just might buy one of my own anyways! :)

I'd probably put our last name in the center, and then "Est. 05.13.06" around the side. Though I like the idea of an infinity sign, too...

G'night Gracie said...

I have been thinking about getting one of these stamped necklaces forever! Mine would say "Grace" for my daughter's name and for the "grace" of God that I so appreciate.

Love your blog!!

Krystyn said...

Oh, I love that (and I'm with you on the jewelry thing, too)!

I think I would put the kiddos names..maybe just our last name with initials...gee, I just can't decide now.

Clare said...

oh my gosh, that is beautiful! i love it! i too don't wear much jewelry, my wedding band, tiffany ring on the other hand (the mesh ring) and a watch. sometimes my diamonds or pearls. i know, boring too! This looks like a nice addition!

Heather said...

I would definitely put my daughters names on there. What a beautiful necklace! Love you ring, too!

Tabbie:) said...

I would put "Love" on it.
It's such a sentimental word to me. I am not yet married and have no children, but the word covers alot.

Yours is beautiful! I love simple and elegant jewelry myself.

Lori said...

I would have my daughter's name stamped on it - Jenna Kathryn.

Amy Amy Bo Bamey said...

Oh, adorable and a great price! If I could win, I would put my kiddos' names on it. I've been wanting a mommy necklace, but not the cheesy birthstone kids. This is perfect! I'll be asking for/buying one soon if I don't win.

Wow... a lot of people want this necklace..... I would love "Lizzie's Mom" on mine... but if I won I would have to give it to mom2natnkatncj.... her response caught my eye (and I wasn't reading responses because I didn't want to steal anyone's idea) when I was scrolling down to see if my sis had registered..... and she hadn't... I'll have to call her!

Kelly said...

OOOOh, I am just like you--not a big fan of jewelry, but I MOST definitely would wear that necklace. It is easy for me to say what would be on mine:

Zachary.Zoe.Zienna

Or just My 3 Zs

Ok, so maybe it isn't so easy--does she do heart symbols, if so it would be

"heart" my 3 z's

Please, please, pick me!
